Sports Betting Picks Extra 03-16-2017 Minnesota Vs. Middle Tennessee 4PM
Sports Betting Picks Extra 03-16-2017 Write Up By Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders (30-4) at Minnesota Golden Gophers (24-9)
The #12 seed MTSU Blue Raiders hope to upset the #5 Minnesota Golden Gophers in NCAA tournament college basketball.
The Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders have been a strong program for awhile and proved it by capturing the CUSA championship with three consecutive victories capped off by an 83-72 win versus the Marshall Thundering Herd in the title game. The red hot Blue Raiders jumped to an eight point edge at the break and never let the Thundering Herd comeback. MTSU dominated both ends of the floor with 53.6% shooting while holding Marshall to just 39% which negated 13 more looks at the basket. Giddy Potts paced the Blue Raiders with a career high 30 points and eight boards on 10-17 from the floor with JaCorey Williams adding 17 points and six pulls on 8-10 while Reggie Upshaw contributed 15 points and eight boards.
The Minnesota Golden Gophers are not an elite name in the Big Ten college basketball world but a 24-9 record was good enough to garner an invitation to the NCAA’s where a name can be made. The Golden Gophers were eliminated from the conference tournament by Michigan, 84-77 in the semifinals where an eleven point deficit heading to the locker room was too much to overcome. The Wolverines won the shooting battle 53.7%-46% but Minnesota hung around because of 13 more shot attempts although fewer threes and makes at the line was the difference. Nate Mason led the Golden Gophers offense with 23 points and six pulls with Dupree McBrayer tossing in 14 points on 5-10. Jordan Murphy and Amir Coffey gave Minnesota 13 points each with a combined 15 rebounds while Reggie Lynch added 12 points and five yanks.
The under is 9-2 in MTSU last 11 non-conference games and MTSU are 21-7 ATS in their last 28 games overall while MTSU are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 Thursday games. The over is 8-2 in Minnesota last 10 overall and the under is 6-2 in Minnesota last 8 non-conference games while the over is 6-2 in Minnesota last 8 Thursday games.
I think for a #12 vs. #5 match up the game should have a bigger spread but it doesn’t matter because the Blue Raiders are very good and I like them to win…
